Far West Masters Athlete Development Fund

The Athlete Development Fund is a program founded and operated by volunteer from the Far West Masters to support ski racing and junior athlete development in the Far West division.

2004-2005 Athlete Development Fund

The Far West Masters Athlete Development Fund has been raising funds for deserving Far West junior skiers since 1992. All money raised comes from Far West Masters racers and supporting sponsors and donors. All administrative involved in the fund-raising and review of athlete scholarship applications are done on a volunteer basis by members of the Far West Masters, which allows us to distribute the funds with no overhead to Far West Junior Athletes.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported this program, particularly the sponsors and donors who generously contribute to support the raffles and other fundraising efforts. And congratulations to all of our scholarship athletes!

Athlete News

Kaylee Cortopassi, a J3 from Mammoth, accomplished a major achievement by winning the J3 Regional Shoot Out at Park City, to qualify for a trip to Italy in February to compete in the Trofeo Topolino. Against a field of the 18 fastest J3 women from the 2004 J3 Junior Olympics at Sun Valley, Kaylee emerged as the fastest and qualified as one of only six US J3's who will compete at the prestigous Topolino event. About the Scholarship Fund Program

Our program initially raised money simply by direct contributions from Masters racers. However, over the years the program has expanded to include more fundraisers, including such events as:

  • A season-long raffle with prizes ranging from dinners, gift certificates, ski wax and accessories to skis, poles and bindings
  • A wine tasting event
  • A dual race including Masters racers and junior scholarship winners
